September is truely spring down here in the lower half of the South Island, New Zealand. Our 1 acre of Daffodils are just opening, We have cool nights, great for cuddling up, and brill days. We have also been known to have the odd spring snowfalls. Kids are off school in the middle of Sept. and quite often over the last 15 years that wev'e been down this neck of the world, we have had a good couple of days playing with the kids in the snow. Cooler nights, warm days. We have lots of good rivers for fly fishing, nothing more than an hour or two from home. Scenery is well worth a trip on its own. Jennine

"I wish god was alive to see that!"
by one of 12 inhubby and i were sitting watching simpsons this morning, the episode where all the lights were really bright to keep the crime at bay.
lisa and bart overloaded the power supply and the power plant and blew all the light bulbs in time for everyone to see the meteor shower.
homer, marge, lisa and maggie are all sitting outside watching the show up in the sky and homer casually says "i wish god was alive to see that!".

I'm sure there are heaps of things we all would love God to see.

Stop following others!
by hibiscusfire infor this new year it would be nice to do some soul searching.
do you follow others just to "fit in" the in group?
it's time to stop playing games with yourself and accept who you are and build on being a better person inside out.

To hibi and all others;
I'm a hubby pleaser and whatever is best for the ultimate happiness of my imediate family.Luckly it's the same for me!!!!!
Others peoples opinion of my family does effect me though . I thought that this forum was a place where we could safely view our feelings and concerns without the snide remarks that so remind me of my witness family. Where is the LOVE???????????????????????????

Welcome Mike from "bigmouth" and I.
All I can say is sadly many off us have been there where you are now or are still there. My family of 11 brothers and sisters and Mum & Dad are also at that stalemate. I can't write to her because she will call it attention seeking, which apparently I have been doing all my life. She would take one look at who it was from and burn it.
This makes me sad because when my uncle(mums brother) was dfd, she would visit him at least once a week even though granny and Dad told her not to.
They are all missing out on 6 pretty terrific young people and an absolutely beautiful granddaughter.

Did any of you head off to University after leaving the org
by yaddayadda inone of my biggest regrets is not getting a degree, due to the jw brain-washing against higher education.
i feel a strong sense of never having reached my academic potential and having been restricted in many ways by this.
i was a high achiever at high school + some teachers were bemused that i never went on to varsity.

I havn't as yet but have enrolled this year to do foundation studies in maths and science so that next year I begin a 3 year course in midwifery. I am sooooo looking forward to it. On saturday I went out and bought myself a laptop in preparation for it. My kids(6 of them ranging from 20 to ten years of age), are all excited for me as is my hubby.
The biggest hurdle for me will be in the back of my mind my mother telling me that I would never amount to anything and "be content to be a mother and wife".
I'm pleased to say that I have set my sights quite a bit higher than she did.

How to (or not) handle the occasional JW who wanders in here
by Check_Your_Premises ini originally thought of posting this thread last week when a thread was started last week: .

this girl didn't seem to realize the extent of the "apostasy" on this thread.

It's true. This may be their first step to freedom and I would hate the" bloodguilt" of me scaring them off. I personally have had nothing but a great welcome and warmth since I started posting. It wouldn't have taken much to scare me off. I'm still struggling with the fear the elders will waltz into my home, like a police raid on a porn site , and confiscate my computer.

Losing a beloved moggy is very heartbreaking and we as a family have had our fair share of that over the years. We have a lovely large black cat "Cole" and one day whilst I was driving to the dairy(we live in a rural area 9 km from a town) I saw a black moggy had been hit by a car and lay dead on the road. I stopped and put the dead cat in my boot wrapped up and continued to the dairy but was shaking thinking it was our cat. When I got home I said nothing to anyone and called for our "Cole" but he never turned up. When Hubby got home from work I poured out my soul to him and then we both argreed to wait till the next day to tell the kids. Well the next day who should welcome us at the door but our big "Cole" cat and the kids couldn't understand why we were so pleased to see him. We had to explain. We buried the other cat and put a death notice in the local rural paper to let the owner know we had buried it with dignity. We have 4 Adult cats at the moment, 3 x moggys and 1 persian, and 7 kittens. It's one big happy mix as we are all very much cat lovers here. Jennine

How much written in this Forum can be believed?
by Spectrum ini want to turn this forum on its head for this thread.
i'm here on this forum to find as many truths as is possible relating to jwism.
i'm not really here to stick the boot in although once in a while my emotions might get the better of me.

That is a very interesting question and from what I've read so far I have got the impression that on JWD real people are off-loading real burdens. I thought that after 41 years in the borg that it was all sweet, but as you read some of these posts from "honest to goodness people" who seem to have had their dreams and hopes torn right out of their hearts, I look back on my life and identify some rather dicey occasions that I had accepted on think a big WOW!
I have had so many unexplained occurances cleared up in the last month that I am gob smacked.I know for bigmouth and myself this forum is our therapy and we won't heal if we told porkies.

My apology to all
by bigmouth ini made the most awful mistake when i posted a comment about spelling and punctuation on the "bible research etc.." forum.
i learned that i can't just post comments about things when people are unaware of my sense of humour and my general nature.
i have spent the day in tears.
